10:15 AM - 11:15 AM (EDT), Thursday, June 8, 2023 ・ Session Room 203
Health systems are not only the source of scientific innovation that leads to new treatments for disease but also the funding for biotech startups. This panel of health system investment leaders will discuss how and why their organizations are taking an active role in funding innovation and fostering commercialization in life sciences. Experts will discuss how their strategies may differ from traditional VCs and will focus on how proximity to clinicians and researchers can catalyze the identification and acceleration of the most impactful ideas, which intangible assets and value health system investors can bring to bear, how they can bridge early-stage funding, and how partnerships can accelerate discoveries from bench to bedside. And finally, using research from the Center for Connected Medicine that identified health systems leading in company formation and venture investing, the panel will deliver insights on a new player in the creation of therapies.
